Falcon Agrifriz Foods Private Limited has inaugurated a state-of-the-art, fully automated frozen potato products manufacturing facility in Kadi, Mehsana, Gujarat. The landmark plant was officially opened on 18 May 2025 by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, along with other dignitaries including Gujarat’s Industries Minister, Balvantsinh Rajput, and Chief Minister, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel.
This new facility represents a major milestone under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Falcon Group and the Government of Gujarat. Under this agreement, the group has committed an investment of ₹1,050 crore to develop Gujarat into a global hub for frozen potato-based products. The investment is aimed at placing India at the forefront of global convenience food exports, leveraging the booming worldwide frozen food segment and India’s agricultural strengths.
Spread across 25 acres, the Mehsana facility is equipped with cutting-edge automation and built in under two years. It is described as one of the most advanced frozen food processing facilities in the country and among India’s most advanced, green, and 100% automated food processing plants. A key feature is India’s only and largest French Fries production line, which is 350 metres long and capable of producing 15 metric tonnes per hour. The facility also includes a Potato Specialty line with a capacity of 3.5 metric tonnes per hour.
Falcon Agrifriz operates an integrated farm-to-fork model. This begins with a dedicated seed programme supported by skilled agronomists. High-quality potato seeds are sourced from northern states such as Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Leh Ladakh. These are cultivated under expert supervision and transported to Gujarat via Falcon’s robust contract farming network, which includes more than 4,000 farmers. The harvested potatoes are quickly moved to advanced cold storage units to ensure year-round availability and freshness.
The Falcon Group has a history spanning over four decades, with a diversified portfolio that includes animal nutrition, marine exports, real estate, mining, mineral exports, trading, healthtech, and strategic holdings. The launch of Falcon Agrifriz extends this legacy into the realm of frozen foods.
Falcon Group Chairman, Tara Ranjan Patnaik, highlighted that the facility reflects Falcon’s commitment to responsible, future-forward growth grounded in trust, quality, and sustainability. He noted Gujarat’s robust agri-ecosystem, abundant potato production, resilient farming community, and pro-business environment made it the natural choice for their flagship facility. Vice-Chairman, Parthajeet Patnaik, described the inauguration as a “defining moment” for the company, aiming to build a legacy that aligns with a new India – innovative, inclusive, and globally competitive. Manish Tibrewal, Director & CEO of Falcon Agrifriz, added that the initiative is driven by a deeper purpose of nation-building from the soil up, aiming to put India on the global frozen food map. He emphasised the farmer-first approach and the ambition to make Falcon a global leader in food processing.
