About the Global Potato Summit 2025
The Global Potato Summit (GPS) 2025 was held from 11 to 13 December 2025 at India Expo Mart & Centre (IEML), Greater Noida, followed by large-scale live farm demonstrations in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Organised by Media Today Group, the summit brought together policymakers, global experts, processors, exporters, researchers, technology providers, and farmers from across the potato value chain.
With participation from over 600 industry leaders, 200+ exhibitors, and delegates from 15+ countries, GPS 2025 positioned itself as one of the most comprehensive and globally integrated potato events ever hosted in India. The summit was anchored around the theme “Empowering India’s Potato Ecosystem for Global Leadership” and covered international potato trends, advanced seed technologies, modern processing systems, export strategies, sustainability frameworks, and cold chain advancements.
Institutional support came from APEDA, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, NHB, ICAR-CPRI, MIDH, CIP India, and multiple state governments. The summit was chaired by Abhishek Dev, Chairman of APEDA and Chairman of the Honorary Advisory Board for GPS 2025.
One of the standout highlights of Day 1 was the Indian Potato Industry Excellence Awards ceremony, graced by Jung Bahadur Sangha (Sangha Farm), Abhigyan Prakash (NDTV), and Vineeta Sudhanshu (APEDA). The ceremony was inaugurated by Shri Shyam Singh Rana, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of Haryana.

The Global Potato Summit 2025 marked a defining moment for India’s potato ecosystem. As the world’s second-largest potato producer with 585.71 lakh tonnes (58.57 MT) in 2024-25, India is well-positioned to become a global hub for high-quality, value-added potato products. However, achieving this potential requires coordinated effort across the entire value chain.
GPS 2025 successfully bridged policy, technology, industry, and on-ground farming practices. The awards programme highlighted how the industry has matured beyond volume-led production toward processing excellence, export readiness, seed innovation, and farmer empowerment.
Key themes that emerged from the summit included the growing importance of frozen potato exports (India’s frozen French fries exports surged 77% to reach 222,744 tonnes in 2025), the need for better seed multiplication infrastructure, the role of precision agriculture in improving yields, and the transformative potential of women’s leadership across the value chain.
The summit also reinforced the importance of international partnerships, with significant participation from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, and other leading potato nations. Companies like Kiremko, GRIMME, Agristo, and HZPC demonstrated their commitment to the Indian market through technology partnerships and joint ventures.
Looking Ahead: Global Potato Summit 2026
Building on the success of GPS 2025, the Global Potato Summit 2026 has been announced for 16–17 December 2026 at Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Moving the summit to Gujarat — India’s epicentre of potato processing and French fry-grade cultivation — signals the event’s growing ambition and industry relevance.
Gujarat produces approximately 1.2 million tonnes of French fry-grade potatoes annually and is home to several of India’s largest frozen potato processing facilities. The state’s robust contract farming ecosystem, cold chain infrastructure, and proximity to major export ports make it the ideal host for GPS 2026.
