The upcoming summit titled “Prosperity from Potato in Uttar Pradesh” is set to take place on September 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the prestigious India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi. This important event is organized by Forum of Enterprises for Equitable Development (FEED) in collaboration with Transform Rural India, with a focused objective of addressing critical challenges and unlocking new opportunities within the potato value chain, particularly for marginal farmers in Uttar Pradesh.
This convening aims to enhance the entire potato value chain in Uttar Pradesh by addressing key areas such as production, processing, and marketing strategies. The goal is to improve the overall efficiency and profitability of the potato industry in the state while simultaneously increasing the income of farmers, with particular emphasis on women farmers and their Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
Noteably, Uttar Pradesh stands as a significant contributor to India’s potato production landscape, responsible for approximately 33.4% of the nation’s total output. In the fiscal year 2023, the state produced around 20.1 million metric tons (MT) of potatoes, establishing its status as a leading producer. Despite this high volume of production, the potato processing industry in Uttar Pradesh remains in a nascent stage, indicating significant potential for development and growth.
